Hi, hi, hello.

jack of all trades,
master of some.

My first birthday, 1993.
Halloween, 1995.

THE GIRL WITH THE CAMERA 📸

For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with nostalgia. My father documented my entire childhood with his Minolta X-700 and Fujifilm 400 Color Negative film stock–I would subsequently get in trouble with my mother for destroying the family photo albums by flipping through them too much. (To be fair, I did ruin the clear, protective sheets.)

There was something about seeing the world through my father’s eyes that has always stuck with me. Maybe it was his composition, or his ability to make those photos feel alive… Whatever it was, I knew I had to pick up where he left off.

Fast forward to high school: It was customary for me to have a small, digital camera attached to my hip at all times. I took pictures of absolutely everything: palm fronds, erasers, my swim team, lunch time in the courtyard.

By senior year I had invested in my first DSLR (a Nikon D3000!) which upped the ante. I know for a fact that my friends/classmates were sick of me, but that did not deter me. I shared “my work” on Facebook and Flickr (this was before Instagram was a thing, lol).

By the time I entered undergrad, I became known as, “the girl with the camera.” Suddenly people were asking me to take pictures of them, and they wanted to pay me! This was never my intention, but the requests kept rolling in. And they never stopped. I have since been contracted for headshots, event photography, theatrical photocalls, even weddings!

Who would have thought, right? Just a little girl who wanted to take photos like her dad. And now, I get to share our perspective with the world 🖤.
